For the past year, a first trend: my first visit to the theater Nouveau Monde . On this Freiburger stage usually played music that concerns me is not particularly close or standing, which explains why I have so far visited only if the contention Festival du or Belluard bulwark International were guests. A couple of times but pushes Sylvain Maradan, the director, a theater production in the music program, and early December seemed to me the opportunity favorable. Affichiert was "A l'ouest de l'homme" of the Cie RDH, gender and promised a scientific study to some extent with the means of the stage: five women in self-test to analyze masculinity. How does a man? How does he move? How he reacts to other men? And: Can a woman too? The laboratory for this experiment was the archetypal place where a man is still a man (or was), the Wild West, and announced accordingly a Western, this incomparable concentrate exaggerated masculinity with appropriate scenery: a lot of saloon swinging doors, before a proper load of straw, a water pool, whiskey bottles iron and shooting of all kinds; raged about the protagonists in boots, jeans, shirt and Stetson.
What would an excellent move for a comprehensive interpretive can be, unfortunately, turned out to be as artless attempt with the steam hammer to generate laughter. For all the originality, all finesse, all the irony that would have this piece can be inherent, were killed simply by a simple coarseness - from the mistaken belief that volume is enough to be funny, and that a whole evening can be disputed by some running gags. If he is not just: if something is to be deconstructed, then goes one-on tips. The Ridicule of an inflated posture or a gesture Macker is evident at first glance, especially if it is shown by a woman. The repetition makes the joke any funnier, on the contrary, it weakens him, and wearied the audience. As we have analyzed here yet again? You have to be very good to throw up more than once to the audience.
Lone advantage of the evening was the music, performed by the single (genetic) man on stage, guitarist Sven Pohlhammer , who took over the role of Ennio Morricone. That too was exaggerated essence of Westerns - but presented with stunning championship. Who parody and ironically will have to understand his craft. For all other with Goethe: tread is wide, not strong.
Technicals: To be fair, I must add that I have perhaps just do not understand the humor. Other viewers Eneke no longer a laughing. Does this now against me or against the Freiburg public?
A l'ouest de l'homme was performed there last year and then in western Switzerland. Current data I have found none, not even the website of the Cie RDH. For a little more information I refer to georgemag.ch .
